Earth Day Rhyming

Children need lots of opportunities to practice rhyming. Here is a fun way to work on identifying rhyming words with your PreK or Kindergarten students. They will love to play this during circle time and then use it on their own in centers!

Earth Day Rhymes

This literacy center includes 32 pictures cards and “rhymes” / “does not rhyme” sorting cards. Use them as a warm up activity for small groups and then place them in a literacy center. Kids love to play this activity over and over!

How to Play

To prepare this activity simply print, laminate and cut. Place the cards in a seasonal container. Set the heading cards on the table. A student will choose one card and say the name of the two pictures on the card such as “map, cap”. Next, they determine if the two words rhyme and place them with the appropriate heading card.
